An interesting side-note is that once I got started, a number of things happened, one of which is the fact that Crypt became the acronym for; CReature You Put There. The reason being, we are in fact responsible for what we put in our environment. Of course, it needs to be said that the word itself is somewhat “cryptic,” which also serves the purpose and is a cute name, not to mention that it allows for yet another set of lessons for elementary students. ​ Another of the idiosyncrasies that came up is the fact that Crypt continues throughout the series to metamorphose, representative of our environment’s ever-changing nature. I realize this means we lose a bit of continuity, however, again, it provides a great opportunity for teaching/learning. And while the text contains technical and sometimes complex wording, I've never been one to discount what a student can do when properly motivated. I encourage you to watch/listen to these episodes as might a child without the preconceived impositions of adulthood.ns of adulthood. ​ While the series intends to illustrate the issues we face as we look more closely at our world, it is also meant as an introduction, not an in-depth study of any one issue. It provides enchanting adventures through which we see another side of what’s all around us. My hope is that if students are introduced to these issues early enough and in a non-threatening manner, they will become life-long responsible stewards of, and advocates for, our environment in all its glory; personal, physical, and social.
